Camp Pillow & Pro Travel Pillow

Yes, very. The zippered travel cover is removable and machine washable as well as dirt & water resistant.

When the pillow is unpacked it is 22 x 15 x 8 inches and when it is packed up in the travel cover it is 14 x 9 x 7 inches. Compared to a standard pillow which is 22 x 26. The weight of the pillow is 2.2 lbs.

The pillow fill is a blend of enhanced memory foam and polyester.  The enhanced memory foam is CertiPUR-UScertified.

The pillow has a contoured profile that rests in the neck and keeps it in place while sleeping in more upright positions; i.e. on a plane or in a car.

Designed for desired alignment from your head to your neck to your spine, the blend of shredded memory foam and polyester offer the support of a home pillow with high resilience, without flattening or losing shape.

Yes! The Pillow cover can be removed and machine washed. For detailed instructions on cover removal & cleaning check out our blog.

Comforters

Both of our comforters provide a very similar amount of warmth as they are both rated for 40 degrees. They both use the same exterior fabrics and have the same feature set. The main difference is the fill type (sustainably sourced (RDS) duck down vs a 100% recycled polyester fill with no hot melt bonding).

Essentially what not using hot melt does is reduce our use of energy during production by eliminating batch ovens in the production process. It also offers a softer feel and flexibility.

The Down is more compressible and packable whereas the synthetic is bulkier.

At the end of the day it is up to your personal preference!

The footbox is one of our most unique features with the Comforter.

It is located at the bottom of your comforter and uses a draw string to cinch around the base of your mattress (to keep your feet tucked in). This connection helps keep the comforter in place on the mattress and keeps it from being pulled out of place when sleeping with a partner.

The Comforter is a great alternative to a traditional sleeping bag and the footbox allows the Comforter to achieve a similar level of insulation and warmth as a sleeping bag especially when paired with an insulating, high r-value mattress.

Please see the attached image for reference: (image coming later)- can we add images to the website.

The Comforter is a great alternative to a Sleeping Bag!

Sleeping bags can feel constricting, slippery, clammy and noisy fabric. When getting a good night's rest while camping it can be essential to have an at home feel to your covers.(Flip this)

If you already have a HEST mattress the Comforter is a great option because of its compatibility with the footbox, compatibility with our Top Sheet, and Fleece Duvet Cover.

The Comforter is great for temperature control and regulation during the night. Your body cools down during the night to help facilitate deep and restful sleep.)(Add via your glabrous skin (hands, feet and face) as you sleep to allow )

Being able to stick your arms or feet out at night allows for you to cool yourself down easier than a traditional sleeping bag. If you need to warm up, just cinch the footbox (described above) and you will warm right up!

The Fabric for the Comforter is polyester. It is soft and smooth to the touch, similar to a premium down puffy.  It is not the traditional slippery, clammy, noisy fabric you would associate with a sleeping bag.

We recommend 40 degrees as the comfort range for the comforter when using a high r-value mattress like the Foamy, Dually, or Sleep System. Additional insulation can be added in the form of our Fleece or Standard Duvet, or additional bedding items like a top sheet.

The Fleece Duvet is an excellent addition to the Comforter. Not only is it incredibly cozy and soft, but it adds a significant amount of warmth for those cold Winter nights.

Another advantage to the Fleece Duvet is that it protects your Comforter from dirt and debris that you track into your sleeping area. The Fleece Duvet makes caring for and cleaning your comforter a breeze.

It is totally fine to store your comforter in its stuff sack for the short term. The Synthetic version will do better in a stuff sack over a long period of time. For the Down Comforter, we recommend storing it in a tote or hanging it for longer term storage in order to retain the loft of the down filling.

Both comforters are machine washable. You should follow the specific instructions on the care label. They are also listed below for your reference.

Down Comforter:

  1.  Spot clean as needed.
  2.  Machine wash: Cold gentle cycle
  3.  Tumble dry: low or air dry
  4. Once dry store your clean comforter loosely inside the tote or hang to ensure max air flow to preserve the longevity of the down fibers

Synthetic Comforter:

  1. Spot clean as needed.
  2.  Machine wash: cold gentle cycle
  3.  Tumble dry: low or air dry
  4.  Store dry & clean in a dry location, stuff sack, or hang to ensure max air flow.

Foamy Seat Cushion

You can use your Foamy Seat Cushion just about anywhere you like! With its outdoor technical fabric and waterproof coating on the base fabric you can use it inside or outside.

Some examples of where to use it are: cold bleachers, picnic benches, camp chairs, office chairs, car seats, rocky beaches, directly on the ground and more.

The Seat Cushion offers deluxe comfort while using the same type of Foam as our mattresses but in a 3” design. The Seat Cushion has 2” of denser more supportive foam just like our mattresses and 1” of the plush top foam. The 3” design is better suited for a seat cushion because it allows for optimal packability and does not raise you up too high when used in a vehicle or other seat.

To wash your Seat Cushion Cover you will need to remove the foam from the cover. We recommend gently removing the foam by grabbing both layers, to avoid tearing or causing them to separate.

The cover should be washed inside out on a cold gentle cycle and hang dry when possible; this will help preserve the longevity of the fabric’s fibers.

To reinsert the foam, gently bend it on itself and insert into the cover. Once inserted, reach in and orient the corners for a flush fit.

Dually

The Dually is designed for flat and dry sleeping setups. It works really well in a truck or van build-out which is what we recommend using it for. The Dually is designed to fold in half to allow more room for gear when not in use and are held in place by two sturdy clips.

The Sleep System is our most versatile mattress. With the inflatable base, it is waterproof, super durable and bridges across gaps and bumps, perfect for sleeping on any kind of terrain.

Yes! We currently offer two dimensions of the Dually: Long (78"x50"x3.9" Open & 78"x25"x7.8" Packed) & Wide (74"x60"x3.9" Open & 74"x30"x7.8" Packed). We’ve found that certain vehicles & build outs work better with the different sizes, so make sure to measure your sleeping platform/space before you order.

The cover zips off and allows the foam to be removed for washing the cover. The polyurethane coated nylon on the bottom of the mattress folds to the outside, protecting the stretch nylon twill sleep surface from moisture and dirt during transport or storage.

DOG BED

Anyone with a HEST memory foam camping mattress and a dog can probably attest that their pooch won’t stay off it… so why not make our furry friends a bed that’s especially for them? Since we already know dogs dig our memory foam and fabric, we decided to maintain the same premium materials as our human pads. Nothing less for your HEST friend!

The HEST Dog Bed is super easy to use.

SETTING UP

1. Unclip the two clips on the integrated compression straps.

2. Roll out the comfort.

3. Sit, Down, Stay & sweet dreams for your doggo.

PUTTING AWAY

1. Starting at the head of the dog bed, begin rolling. Start with a tight initial roll, use your knee to compress as you go, and take your time- it takes a moment for the air to escape the foam.

2. When fully rolled, reattach clips & tighten integrated compression straps by cinching.

3. Hit the road!

When you get home from your trip, we recommend airing out the mattress till it’s fully dry before long term storage. Once dry: store in a cool, dry place.

More info on using your HEST Dog Bed can be found here.

We designed the HEST Dog Bed with a foam liner to protect the foam against the extra wear and tear of daily use by an adventure dog. We know sogginess & mud are inevitable when it comes to camping with a canine, so having an extra layer of protection will increase the lifespan of the memory foam.

The foam liner can be easily removed if you prefer a more plush/body contouring sleep for your dog. Simply:

1. Unzip & remove the cover.

2. Unzip the zipper located on the side of the waterproof foam liner.

3. Gently pull the foam out of the waterproof liner.

4. Gently reinsert the naked memory foam into the cover. Tips on getting the foam into the cover can be found in this blog/video.

Once you’ve unzipped and removed your stretch/waterproof mattress cover, it can be machine washed. We recommend cold, gentle cycle & hang drying to maximize the longevity of the fabrics’ performance.

Sleep System

The system is built around the desire to bring high-performance memory foam to your campsite. Home mattress foams have evolved and improved over the years, and we wanted to bring the same innovative foam chemistries from your home to the outdoors. We started with the foam and developed the best combination of foam to conform, provide pressure point relief, breath and support different sleeping positions in the outdoors. With all these sleep performance goals, we also added the goals of being thinner than a home mattress and compressible to roll up. In addition to the foam, the drop stitch also allows us to recreate the home mattress experience in the outdoors. Most home mattresses have a firm base of foam. It would be impossible to roll up a home mattress base, so we created the drop stitch base, since it creates a firm support for the foam but also deflates and rolls up. The drop stitch has added benefits of being waterproof, durable and helps compress the foam during rolling.

Your HEST Sleep System is simple to assemble:

1. Unroll sleep system

2. Screw tube in to “OUT” port of pump

3. Remove valve cap on the dropstitch base

4. Press down on spring-loaded valve stem & turn clockwise until it springs up. The valve is now closed & will hold air.

5. Insert pump tube in to valve & inflate w/ pump

6. Inflate to desired firmness. (Pump dial does not register until 7 PSI. We recommend under 10 PSI. Do not exceed 15 PSI.)

7. Attach valve cap.

8. Sweet dreams!

After enjoying a wonderful night sleep, the HEST Sleep System can be rolled up for transportation and storage:

1. Remove the valve cap

2. Depress & turn valve stem counterclockwise to allow air to escape.

3. Install “IN” port of pump.

4. Press down on spring-loaded valve stem & turn clockwise until it springs up.

5. Remove extra air with the pump.

6. Install valve cap.

7. Attach compression harness to base.

8. Start with tight roll & slowly roll Sleep System to allow air to escape from foam.

9. Connect compression straps and tighten.

10. Insert sleep system & pump in to bag. (Alternative- Attach compression harness to bag & then base.)

11. Hit the road!

More info & video instructions can be found on our 101 blog!

We designed the foam cover to zip off the drop stitch for a number of reasons. We expect people to remove the foam cover and wash it. It is also possible to remove the foam cover and use the foam without the drop stitch. This can be a nice option if your sleeping surface is flat & dry.

We realize everyone will need to store their mattress between their adventures. Please make sure your mattress is dry before storing it. Since the foam cover is only water resistant, it is possible to have dampness inside the foam. If this is the case, we’d recommend removing the foam and allowing it to dry before storing it. Once your mattress is completely dry, roll up your mattress and store it in a cool and dry location.

You can pump up your Sleep System's base higher to for more rigidity, but it is really a personal preference on firmness. The pump's gauge goes lower than 7 PSI. Many people tend to stop pumping well before 7 PSI, as long as you are reaching a rigidity in the base you are satisfied with that's all that matters! Once you've slept on the System a few times you'll start to get a feel for what firmness is most comfortable for you.
