Your Name: Micah Weber from @overlandunderbudget
Location: Central Coast, CA
Rig Nickname: No nicknames actually haha, we just call it "the truck"
Vehicle Make & Model: Toyota Tacoma Double Cab 4x4
Year: 2001
HEST Product: Dually Wide & Dually Long
Critical dimensions for your bed platform:
Length: Upper is 78”, lower is 73”
Width (at narrowest point): Upper is 50”, lower is 63”
Height: 39” with the camper lid closed

It’s amazing how perfectly these pads fit my camper build. The upper sleeping area is exactly 50x78" which matches the Dually Long to the inch and the lower sleeping area is a roomy 62x73" making it a great candidate for the Dually Wide.

Is this your daily driver or getaway car? It's both!

What do you like most about your rig?
The personalization of it. Having made the back half of the truck in my garage, and almost every part of the remaining truck it feels like I'm getting to finally drive one of my lego creations I made as a kid!

How did you navigate gear storage needs into your rig set up?
I'm a pretty last minute planner when it comes to trips and I often find myself deciding to head out the day of or night before. Because of that I built in storage for both the flat bed and camper so I can keep most of my equipment in the truck all the time and avoid most of the headaches of inevitably leaving behind something as basic as plates to eat off.

On your average weekend adventure, what is the gear set up you bring with you?

It depends on where I'm heading but I'm pretty basic! Change of clothes, hiking boots and flip flops, something warm, something for the heat, my 0 degree sleeping bag if it's winter, or something lighter if it's summer. All the standard stuff you might find in a truck, shovel, axe, recovery ropes, flashlights and firearm are all coming with. I just recently got my first 12v fridge and that has been really nice to have too. A Coleman stove and just add water pancake mix and I'm out the door! Oh add in a Pelican case full of cameras and drones and that’s about it! Oh sometimes my Archery equipment is thrown in there too! See? I'm sure I'm leaving something important out and those items are already packed.

Any cool custom details you’re proud of?
Well it's hard not to feel some attachment to each detail when you make something completely from scratch. You have to consider everything from the length of the bed to the angle of the fenders or placement of the gas cap. But I think if I had to pick just one detail it would be the hidden popout storage system in the flatbed.

Coolest place you’ve taken your rig to? It's too hard to choose!

Any projects in the pipeline to get your rig even more adventure ready?
Oh man, it seems like there is alway a laundry list of little changes or tweaks as I get closer and closer to what I have imagined. But I'm happy to report as of right now, it's 100% functional and ready for trips!
