Height: 48"
Is this your daily driver or getaway car?
Big Truck is purpose-built to bring our family of 5 (plus two dogs) and all our gear to adventure. Mountain biking, skiing, camping, summer road trips, National Parks, backcountry is where it is meant to be. It is definitely not mall parking garage approved.
What do you like most about your rig?
We love so much about it - the Carli 2.0 Pintop Suspension, room for kids and dogs and the serious range (440 miles on one tank).
On your average weekend adventure, what is the gear set up you bring with you? How did you navigate gear storage needs into your rig set up?
Our average weekend setup varies greatly. In the bed we have a TruckVault drawer system for off-road recovery/roadside assistance, fun and games necessities (usually for us that includes kites, stick-ball or baseball equipment, a football, bike helmets, chess set, playing cards and other things to keep us and kids entertained in camp). We also have a Cargo-Glide XL for easy loading and unloading of packs, equipment, camping gear or skis. Out back we haul bikes using a swing away gate paired with a 1up Super Duty Four Bike Rack.
Any cool custom details you’re proud of?
Nothing too wild, but the 37” Tires on Method Rims with Carli Suspension really improved the overall ride and utility off-road.
Coolest place you've taken your rig to?
Death Valley, Moab, Bryce Canyon are top of the list. Additionally, Kristin competed in the 2020 Rebelle Rally (the only F250 to date), driving through picturesque scenery from Northern California, Southwest Nevada, down to the California/Mexico boarder. Ending the Rally in the Glamis Sand Dunes and driving that big truck through the dunes is certainly a favorite memory! (only F250 to enter to-date).
Any projects in the pipeline to get your rig even more adventure ready?
Nothing planned currently, it is pretty dialed in. We are looking to add a trailer/toy hauler in the near future.
Biggest challenge in your build out?
For us, the biggest challenge was deciding on a rig that could fit our family and provide the off-road abilities we were looking for. It’s not perfect, but has been a great choice. The other biggest build challenge was finding the right truck topper for our needs. Most overland or adventure camper tops are designed for smaller trucks and the choices were very limited three years ago.
