HEST Rigs We Dig GMC Sierra Camper Buildout Back of truck Dually

Your name:  Jillian Rebekah

Location: Southern California

Nickname: MTN YOT

Make & Model: Manual 2016 Toyota Tacoma

HEST products: HEST Sleep System Wide  &  2  Standard Pillows

Critical dimensions for your bed platform: N/A

I use my HEST products in a massive ShiftPod tent. There are no dimension restrictions!

Is this your daily driver or getaway car?

Yes, dual purpose.

What do you like most about your rig?

As a sometimes solo traveler, it has been built custom for my style of adventure. But a specific feature would be the rear seat delete (removed the factory seats and built a plywood platform for gear and the dog).

On your average weekend adventure, what is the gear set up you bring with you? How did you navigate gear storage needs into your rig set up?

Average weekend, usually longer... during the winter season would include my XVenture trailer to haul my motorcycle and additional water for hot showers!

Any cool custom details you’re proud of?

External Dual Battery System and the above mentioned Rear Seat Delete.

Coolest place you’ve taken your rig to?

That's a tough one, but Colorado will always retain the "most epic camping" title.

Any projects in the pipeline to get your rig even more adventure ready?

I'm actually about to remove my roof top tent after 6 years of use. In 2022 I made the move back to a ground tent set-up and I am loving it!

Biggest challenge in your build out?

The Tacomas are notorious for having a weak power plant which sometimes creates extra drama on the trail in the form of lack in power and torque. Definitely forces me to be more aggressive with tackling off-road obstacles.

Tips for others looking to do the same to their vehicle?

If new to off-road travel, I recommend you keep your vehicle as stock as possible and only build as you grow in knowledge and driving skills. In the end it makes you a better driver all around and hopefully will save you money.
