Here at HEST, we think it’s just as important to protect the outdoors as it is to enjoy them. Sustainability is a large conversation we must integrate into every aspect of our lives, business practices, and more. As members of 1% FOR THE PLANET, we want to continue this conversation.
We take inspiration from Rob Machado, one of our talented and driven HEST Dream Team ambassadors. Rob is not only one of the world’s greatest surfers, but a fierce environmentalist. His mission: to educate and empower young people to make sustainable choices. The Rob Machado Foundation contains programs focused on eliminating single-use plastic, creating access to clean and free drinking water, organizing beach clean ups and establishing durable recycling bins in communities.
Established in 2004, the Foundation began its roots with local communities and schools. Its humble beginnings of introducing scholastic gardening programs has now evolved into a successful water filling station program delivering clean, filtered water to a wide range of schools and public locations; while simultaneously helping eliminate single-use plastic water bottles.
Today, the Rob Machado Foundation has helped distribute over 600k gallons of clean water to our youth and has helped eliminate over 500k single-use plastic water bottles from our beaches.
