Thayer grew up in the mountains of Colorado, namely Crested Butte and Vail, and spent her free time as a teenager driving down winding dirt roads in cards that probably would have preferred paved ones. Thayer never really started off-roading as much as I just never stopped. It just seemed natural to me to keep driving farther and deeper into the mountains and deserts as she ended up owning trucks that were more capable of handling the terrain than the original '80s Subaru DLs that she had taken.
Thayer got into Land Rover originally looking for a family car that was capable of going all the places she loved, holding the entire family (and kid gear), and still handling well on the road. Strangely enough, it was after she had been driving her first LR4 for a while that she really fell in love - its capabilities sure but more importantly with the community that surrounds Land Rovers.
Everyone has different sleeping patterns and nightly routines. Check out what Thyer has to say about sleeping in the outdoors.
