While most of us toss and turn throughout the night, we tend to identify as a certain type of sleeper based on the position we either fall asleep in or sleep the majority of the night in.
The three most common positions are: back, side and stomach. When you are shopping for a home mattress you will find a lot of recommendations based on the position in which you sleep. Here at HEST, we bring the comfort of home to the outdoors, and all our products are engineered for optimal body alignment, pressure point relief and temperature regulation.
We have made some HEST-specific mattress recommendations based on your sleeping position.
The Sleep System is the OG of our HEST line, with an inflatable dropstitch base, you can adjust firmness depending on the surface you are sleeping on. For a firmer sleep, inflate to full rigidity (8 psi). If you want a more plush, soft sleep, leave the base slightly under inflated so the air can move with you as you move.
Statistics show that over 50% of all sleepers are side sleepers, and fortunately the best positions for your health. It supports healthy breathing and blood flow throughout the night. Pressure relief at the shoulders, hips and lower back are essential for side sleepers, especially after a day playing outdoors.
For Side Sleepers looking for plenty of room to sink into a large cuddly mattress at the end of the day while camping outside, HEST recommends the Dually, especially if you camp with another person. Side Sleepers tend to make a lot of micro adjustments throughout the night, and the enhanced memory foam found in all HEST mattresses are virtually silent. Side Sleepers have a tendency to sleep with two pillows - one for the head and one between legs or hugging on your side- and so HEST can’t NOT recommend the HEST Pillow offered in two sizes, Standard just like your home pillow or the Camp Pillow, a little smaller and just as packable.
Stomach sleepers are the rarest of the bunch. While it appears to be a tight and cozy way to sleep- and helps alleviate snoring- it is proven difficult to maintain a neutral spine when you are a stomach or “tummy” sleeper.
The Foamy is HEST’s most portable, packable and adventure-ready mattress. It’s easy to unroll and crash down on your stomach and get a sound night of sleep.
“Being hot” is a common complaint of a stomach sleeper, and the temperature resilient enhanced memory foam found in the Foamy and all HEST mattresses is great for regulating your temperature throughout the night.
