Is this your daily driver or getaway car?
Both!
What do you like most about your rig?
Most common question I get asked especially since I’ve touched about every single area of the car. To be the most honest, I say our Trustmade roof top tent. My daughter calls it the clubhouse! From when we are out in the woods camping, or out getting burgers if it’s nice out, she always want me to pop it open and hang out in it. I got it from a buddy off his Tacoma and I’ve upgraded it with some lighting and an antidote insulation kit from off of one of their RTT models and made it work.
On your average weekend adventure, what is the gear set up you bring with you? How did you navigate gear storage needs into your rig set up?
Man the list can go on! We have pretty basic needs; YETI Tundra Cooler, Jackery Power Supply, insulated roof top tent, heated blankets, propane fire ammo can for fun, and these are bare necessities. Of course the wife could go on with all that I’ve forgot to mention. We’ve pretty much gotten away with items that are basic and compact to help with storage. Our roof top tent is pretty empty and allows us to stores few items as well.
Any cool custom details you’re proud of?
Custom rear slide out drawers a buddy made for me and the galaxy wrapped headliner and door panels.
Coolest place you’ve taken your rig to?
We are just starting in our honeymoon of taking trips and we’ve been busy really making sure we hit all the areas of what needs to be done to the rig to get us through the weekend. But so far, out in Chehalis Paradise Campground with their own fish pond, etc. It’s hard to rough it in the early stages of my toddler. We have to make sure she stays entertained and not bored...the last thing anyone needs on a camping trip is a unhappy camper.
Any projects in the pipeline to get your rig even more adventure ready?
I was in the process of searching down parts from a Japanese car to convert my rig to awd, and I learned that the rig is gonna be legal to import soon so I might as well just buy the whole car and then lift that!
Biggest challenge in your build out?
Haven’t run into many challenges. He’s been a pretty easy build and I've been very fortunate.
Tips for others looking to do the same to their vehicle?
Not sure how many other people want to do what I’ve done that’s for sure, but it'd be cool to see more of my style lifted Scion xB for sure!
