Is this your daily driver or getaway car?

Getaway car.

What do you like most about your rig?

I am so impressed with how capable this truck is in its stock setup. The off road trim level comes stock with skid plates, Bilstein shocks and a locking rear differential. I have gobs of space inside, a fold-flat front passenger seat and a roof rack that can hold 150 lbs. The 6-cylinder engine is powerful yet still manages to maintain good gas mileage.

On your average weekend adventure, what is the gear set up you bring with you? How did you integrate gear storage needs into your rig set up?

Table, mats, awning, lights, camp chair, folding stool, HEST mattress, bedding, pillow and duffle of clothing.

I maximize every inch of my truck. Tucking things into unused spaces. I utilize a large tote to carry most of my camping gear for easy in and out. My lights, awning poles, and mats stack to one side. I have my setup honed pretty well. I try to maintain a minimalist approach when bringing gear. Multipurpose uses for a few things really helps too.

Any cool custom details you’re proud of?

Apex Rapid Deflators and BulletPoint Mounting Solutions Communications Center. I've also got a custom vinyl (including partner logos).

Coolest place you’ve taken your rig to?

AOAA (Anthracite Outdoor Adventure Area) and Tuscarora State Forest in Pennsylvania.

Any projects in the pipeline to get your rig even more adventure ready?

I’m saving for tires (more off road capable, but same size), suspension upgrades (newer) and ditch lights, but I really pride myself on adventuring in a stock vehicle. I also plan to add a hitch receiver and an extra recovery point.

Biggest challenge in your build out?

Keeping it as stock as possible. I seek better performance, but at what expense?

Tips for others looking to do the same to their vehicle?

Travel in your vehicle in its stock setup first. Learn its capabilities and its deficits. Evaluate what is important to you and make those modifications. So often we see people get a new rig and go hog wild with upgrades, only to realize they only needed or use a fraction of what they installed. Or, they pile so much stuff on that they are overweighted. Build with purpose. Also, don’t listen to every Tom, Dick and Harry. If you ask for opinions that is likely what you will get. Their opinions. Seek advice from experts and weigh that advice with your own needs and wants.
