Is this your daily driver or getaway car?
Definitely our get away Rig. We travel quite a bit in our rig spending well over 100 nights/year in it. Usually, at least one BIG Multi-Month trip each Fall.

What do you like most about your rig? Our Airstream provides Nimbleness and Comfort. We have 5-star accommodations no matter where we stay. From a Walmart parking lot to an Ocean Side RV Resort in the FL Keys. We can get in to some pretty tight spots with this Big’ol GURL and we’ve always got a comfortable place to be.

On your average weekend adventure, what is the gear set up you bring with you? How did you navigate gear storage needs into your rig set up?

The Hest Sleep Systems always go due to their comfort for our kiddos. A few ZipDee chairs and our Solo Stove fire pitand we are good to go. We’ve become pretty basic over the years. If we take sometime on a trip and don’t use it very much we will not pack it for our next trip. If we don’t miss it on that trip it is removed from our roster. With the ever evolving market of cool “NEW’’ gear,  Space becomes limited and valuable, things must earn their place or risk getting replaced.

Any cool custom details you’re proud of?
DEFINITELY!  Our Airstream is pretty off-grid capable with it 3” lift, massive 1000W of roof top solar, large 800Ah lithium battery bank, 3000W Victron MultiPlus Inverter, and AirKrafters on board generator. We can stay off grid for weeks. Water is our limiting factor.

Coolest place you’ve taken your rig to?
WOW. We’ve been from Key West to Canada and Virginia to California so there’s been quite a few cool places. If I had to narrow it down to a few I’d say Glacier NP, Yellowstone NP, Grand Teton. NP, and why not add Utah's Mighty 5 to round it out.

Any projects in the pipeline to get the truck even more adventure ready?
We are planning Alaska in 2024 so fine tuning out Boondocking capabilities is definitely front and center.

Biggest challenge in your build out?
We’ve been pretty blessed with a solid base to build on. I’d say our biggest challenge would be finding creative ways to use the space we have available. Example: Utilizing the Hest Sleep Systems for our kids. Obviously when traveling for months at a time COMFORT is very important. The factory seat cushions in our Airstream, while great to sit on, left a lot to be desired for a sleeping surface. Figuring out that the Hest beds would fit our space was a GAMECHANGER. With one bed on our lowered dinning table and the other in the front floor both of our “children” (14 and 19) have a very comfortable place to sleep.

Tips for others looking to do the same to their vehicle?
Follow others leads and build into and onto that. Don’t re-pave roads that are already paved. Learn from others and add your own special touches along the way. Then be prepared to pass on the knowledge you’ve learned to the ones following in your footsteps.
