We talk to a ton of customers year round, learning about all the different places they camp, their rigs (check out Rigs We Dig), their tips and tricks and how they spend their valuable time outdoors.
This year, we want to take a deeper dive into what IS the ultimate set up for sleeping outdoors? Is it a van? A rooftop tent? The back of your truck? A truckbed camper? A tow behind trailer camper? A ground tent?
Within all those options are even more options to consider? Which van? DIY Truck bed platform or a Truck platform camper? Soft Top or Hard Top Rooftop Tent?
Here are some questions we will be investigating and interviewing from various owners of the different set ups:
Type of Set Up:What are the basics of the setup?
How Many Does it Comfortably Sleep?How many people (and pups) can fit comfortably in this set up? Can you sit/stand up in the set up?
Space Utilization:Space utilization is key when you're on the road! How well does the set up utilize the limited space available?
Family Friendly? Is it a bachelor adventure mobile or can it fit a growing family?
4wd/ Off Road Capability?Can you take this set up dispersed camping? Can it make it down a forest service road? Is it overland capable?
Kitchen/Cooking Set up?Are we cooking outside or inside?
Portability: How easy to set up, break down & move around. If you need to make a run in to town is it easy to pick up and go?
Benefits: What we love about this set up.
Challenges: What we see are potential setbacks and challenges for this set up.
Budget Considerations/Affordability: All the things you need to consider for your budget... is the set up something you can buy today or are you going to need to save up for it? Will you need a loan? Besides initial investment, are there other costs that will add up as you use it?
Swag Factor:While function is definitely the most important consideration when looking for a rig, we can’t deny that some set ups just LOOK GOOD! How does this set up rank in terms of coolness? Does it turn heads when you pull into a campsite?
